Body-First Psychotherapy

What if your body has been trying to help you all along?

Have you ever noticed a knot in your stomach before making a difficult decision? A heaviness in your chest when you are overwhelmed? Or a deep sense of relief when something finally feels right?

Your body is constantly communicating with you.

When you have lived through trauma, chronic stress, or difficult relationships, learning to ignore those messages may have been what helped you survive. Over time, though, that disconnection can make it difficult to know what you need, where your boundaries are, or what truly feels safe.

Healing is not only about understanding your story; it is also about reconnecting with the part of you that has been carrying it all along. In our work together, we include the body as part of the healing process. Through a somatic, trauma-informed approach, we become we begin to notice how your body communicates – through sensations, movements, stillness, and reactions. Rather than viewing these experiences as symptoms to fix, we approach them as valuable information that can deepen self-understanding and support lasting change.

Using practices such as mindfulness, parts work, and body-based approaches like yoga, you have opportunities to reconnect with yourself in ways that feel safe, gradual, and empowering. You do not have to force awareness or "get it right." We move at a pace that honors your nervous system and your lived experience.

As your connection with your body grows, you may begin to recognize what you need with greater clarity. You might notice when something does not feel right, when a boundary is needed, or when your body is signaling rest, connection, or change. These moments become opportunities to respond with intention rather than survival.

This is the heart of embodiment: reconnecting with yourself and the wisdom your body has carried all along.

What Does a Typical Session Look Like?

Sessions begin by coming home to your body - through breath, movement, or grounding. From there, we listen inward. Using mindfulness and parts work, we explore the different inner voices and sensations that surface, meeting each with curiosity and compassion. Rather than just talking about your experience, we move through it - allowing your body to guide restoration and healing.

I am unable to accept current yogic clients for therapeutic services due to a conflict of interest. You are welcome to visit my Resources page for recommendations on mental health services.
